SuretyBonds.com
Columbia, Missouri online agency — licensed in all 50 states
A high-volume online surety agency founded in 2009. Public BBB file shows an A+ accredited rating. The firm publishes a 50-state license table and is part of the Tokio Marine / HCC family after a 2014–2015 acquisition chain.
Founder Josh Kayser launched the site on 13 March 2009. SuretyBonds.com’s own anniversary reporting says HCC Insurance Holdings acquired the firm in 2014, then Tokio Marine acquired HCC in 2015.
BBB Serving Greater Missouri lists the business as accredited with an A+ rating (file opened 2011; business started 18 January 2009). We treat that as a BBB letter grade, not a SuretyResearch star score.
The agency’s license page states it is licensed in all 50 states, in some jurisdictions as Brooklyn Ventures, LLC d.b.a. Surety Bonds.com.
What we will not stretch
- Their homepage marketing language (“#1 surety bond agency in the nation”) is their claim, not ours.
Bond series on this file
What they claim to write
Series A
License & Permit
Most regulated businesses post a license or permit bond before a state will issue or renew the license. The bond guarantees compliance with the statute — it is not insurance for the principal.
Series B
Contract / Performance
Construction and public-works contracts ask the contractor to guarantee the bid, the work, and the subcontractors. These are underwritten on financials and experience, not just a credit score.
Series C
Commercial
Commercial surety covers the bonds that sit beside a license or a jobsite: employee dishonesty, public official, lost-instrument, and a long tail of miscellaneous forms.
Series D
Court / Judicial
Courts require bonds so a judgment, estate, or injunction has a solvent backstop. These are often collateral-heavy and time-sensitive.
