CNA Surety
Western Surety paper, 50-state commercial and contract book
CNA Surety (including Western Surety Company) publishes a full commercial and contract offering in all 50 states, Canada, and Puerto Rico, with a FAST-Track program for smaller contractors and bONdLINE for transactional commercial bonds. Texas DOI lists Western Surety / CNA companies among admitted surety markets.
Western Surety’s Sioux Falls heritage is now inside CNA. Agents still see Western Surety paper on many license and permit bonds.
We are not reprinting an AM Best figure we did not open on CNA’s own ratings page in this pass.

What they claim to write
Series A
License & Permit
Most regulated businesses post a license or permit bond before a state will issue or renew the license. The bond guarantees compliance with the statute — it is not insurance for the principal.
Series B
Contract / Performance
Construction and public-works contracts ask the contractor to guarantee the bid, the work, and the subcontractors. These are underwritten on financials and experience, not just a credit score.
Series C
Commercial
Commercial surety covers the bonds that sit beside a license or a jobsite: employee dishonesty, public official, lost-instrument, and a long tail of miscellaneous forms.
Series D
Court / Judicial
Courts require bonds so a judgment, estate, or injunction has a solvent backstop. These are often collateral-heavy and time-sensitive.
