BondExchange
Wholesale / technology marketplace used by retail agents
BondExchange is a wholesale surety marketplace and technology layer that appointed retail agents use to quote and issue commercial and license bonds. Principals usually do not open an account directly — your agent does.
Listed so licensing professionals understand why an agency (including IFI) might bind a Western Surety or similar form through a wholesale portal.
Founding-year figures circulating in trade writeups (often 1977) were not opened on BondExchange’s own legal page in this pass, so we do not print a year.
What we will not stretch
- Not a consumer agency. If you are a principal, call IFI or another retail shop.

What they claim to write
Series A
License & Permit
Most regulated businesses post a license or permit bond before a state will issue or renew the license. The bond guarantees compliance with the statute — it is not insurance for the principal.
Series C
Commercial
Commercial surety covers the bonds that sit beside a license or a jobsite: employee dishonesty, public official, lost-instrument, and a long tail of miscellaneous forms.
Series D
Court / Judicial
Courts require bonds so a judgment, estate, or injunction has a solvent backstop. These are often collateral-heavy and time-sensitive.
